My neighbour annually re-varnishes his deck and my balcony looks directly over it. I liked the way the rain drops formed cohesive blobs. The original photograph looks like an ordinary, boring deck, so I decided to play around with gradient map layers in Photoshop.
This image was borne from an idea after having visited the Photoshop Essential Tutorial on Sunsets. If you can do that with sunsets, what else can this gradient map thingy do? I not only learnt about gradient map layers, I also learnt about creating my own textures and applying them using the texturizer filter option. These blobs turn out looking something like oversized red blood cells, except for the elongated blobs…we wouldn’t want red blood cells looking like that!

I like what you did with it! Does not look boring at all
Yeah, just having a bit of fun – I had some time on my hands!
Love it!
Brilliant. Every drop is individual and so unique. Excellent image!
