A section of grass mat – a very common sight in Mali, West Africa.
Usually constructed to the dimension of approximately 2m x 2m, these mats are most often used to create a shady spot to sit in. This one was attached to a gate to offer some privacy from the prying eyes on the street. We are the only “whiteys” in town… naturally, folks find us quite the curiousity!

Nice textures!
Thanks Meanderer, It is such a simple weave, but I think I like it most because it appeals to my “crafty” side
great texture and pattern
Thank you!
Beautiful detail.
I agree! Thank you Hallysann!
Wonderful texture, pattern and colours!
It is pretty amazing in its simplicity. I walked past this countless times before I actually looked at it!
