I’m not often around for “events” – so when I realised that the Olympic Torch Relay was going to be passing just up the street from where I’m living in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, I just had to pop along.
There was a wee bit of a build up…
Even some strategically placed advertising for one of the many Indian restaurants around these here parts…
… cool truck, but if truth be told, my favourite local sub-continental restaurant is The Gurkha on Morningside Road. Yum.
The first bus passed with some of the torch-bearers within…
and then… no time for photos – I knew it would all go so quickly.
OK, so it’s not the castle – but I figured that this is more personal for me – check out the local fishie that I occasionally visit… the “Globetrotter” – could there be a more appropriate setting for the all-global Olympic Games??

Thanks for sharing! I missed the excitement tonight as I had commitments on the other side of town and I’m travelling tomorrow so I’ll miss the fun on the Royal Mile.
Ah, boo that you missed it
BUT – if you catch BBC Scotland news update tonight – you will (hopefully) catch the most beautiful aerial shots of the city. Truly gorgeous – makes me so proud to call Edinburgh home (for a few months of the year, at least!)
nice angle shots, makes me feel like im at the torch relay!
also i can see beautiful old buildings, love their architecture. whats it like to wake up in a beautiful city?
love this post, thanks for sharing!
At first you think… what’s the big deal?… but then, something happens and the spirit of the Games sweeps you up. When it travelled through Canada two years ago for the Winter Olympics, that spirit really grew and it was an amazing thing to watch! Really brought Canadians together. As gushy as that sounds… it was cool!
Thanks for sharing your photos!

Lovely to see the shots of Brunstfield. Stayed there many times over the years. Visiting Edinburgh on Friday for a long weekend. Can’t wait. It’s top of my favourite city list.
