Where to start?
Perhaps, “It started with a Kiss”?
A message blown in on the wind?
Or, like the Goddess Nike – “Just do it”, already…
There’s actually too much to see and really take note of.
I did make a point of catching up with Lisa…
…somehow managing to not capture any red-spots of all the other photographers pressed up against this absurdly popular painting.
And I bumped into Venus and the Three Graces – doing their thing…
I find this painting utterly amazing – not only is it a fresco (making it difficult to transport) it was painted sometime between 1483-1486 – making it well over 500 years old. It’s truly wonderful.
As much as I would have loved to have taken photographs of absolutely every single piece of art on display – I had to limit myself, knowing full well my memory card wouldn’t last the weekend. I did, however, feel that I couldn’t let these tigers go amiss…
J’adore les tigres.
I also enjoyed this scene from the massive painting The Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese…
Of course, there is so much more to the Louvre other than the art that is displayed throughout. I got quite a crick in my neck from looking up at the ornate decor of the ceilings.
I’ve honestly no idea from which rooms these next few photographs were taken!
And then there was light…
Some of the most fantastic chandeliers were to be found in the apartments of Napoleon III. He took “Pimp my Crib” to a whole new level.
Did you see the wallpaper?? Utterly sumptuous. I can’t imagine trying to hang it without getting wallpaper paste all over the place!!
The dining room…
More ceilings
And just in case it was getting a little gloomy – more light.
If that wasn’t sparkly enough – then a visit to the French Crown Jewels would be a must.
Locked behind these wonderful iron doors…
Was this:
For some reason, that was I all I chose to photograph of the glittering jewels. Clearly, I had been bedazzled.

Great post. I was here in 2009 and was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of the place. It was utterly surreal to me. Really magnificent experience.
fantastic photographs! theyre absolutely gorgeous
i like how you took us all on a trip to the museum, i enjoy it very, very much
i know how popular mona lisa is but apparently you had another one of your lucky strike-shot!
i was speechless at the decorated ceiling, was amazing! love this post very much!
Awesome! I made a detailed list of the things I wanted to see there, but got carried away once inside
Never got to the crown jewels, but loved the Vermeers the most. Thank you for sharing your stunning photos.
I love the Nike statue, I love the movement in it, and I really like how it’s become broken and dismembered over time… I think it’s perfect the way it is, I couldn’t imagine it a better way, I couldn’t imagine it “complete”.
Amazing photos! One of the most beautiful places on earth. Thanks for sharing!
Olga
Beautiful! It makes you feel a bit useless doesn’t it?

Wow ! I’ve not actually been inside. When I eventually do I must remember to take a spare battery and an empty memory card with me. It’s wonderful, thanks for the peep inside.
Hi Lu, I nominated you for a blog photography contest! Hope you enjoy: http://2summers.net/2012/07/14/south-africa-in-technicolor/
Winged Victory is one of my all time favorites. How does a statue without a head and arms have so much passion??? Imagine what it looked like whole. Mmm.
